I believe my fascination began during the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, the last time I remember being ill for a long period of time. There was not much else going on during the day, so I tuned in and became a fan. I have looked forward to it ever since. This year I even changed my TV package to enable me to watch.

And I was not disappointed. This morning I happened to wake at 6am. I turned on the TV just on the off chance, and there it was! The Opening Ceremony hasn’t happened yet, but the Winter Olympics are underway, at least the important part. This morning I watched preliminary rounds of mixed doubles Curling. That’s right, I am crazy for Curling!

A cross between bowling and shuffle board on ice, I don’t know why Curling interests me. Perhaps it is the considerable amount of strategy and thought involved… Maybe it’s the requisite yelling… Perhaps it’s the fact the Curling Olympians look more like me and are doing something that does not endanger life and limb… This is something I could do!

I’m going to get my chance. Our own Transplant Game Olympian and Curling expert, Al Milek, is organizing a group to learn how to Curl. I’m all in on this one! The date is Wednesday, February 28th and the midday session includes lunch along with introductory Curling instruction.

Catch some of the scintillating and fast paced Curling coverage (facetious warning…) this Olympics. Then let me know if you would like to come along. Now that the Olympics are here and Curling gets the coverage it deserves, I’m betting spots for the 28th will fill up fast. Curling anyone?

See you Sunday!
