Volunteer and Donation Opportunities:
Each year Mama’s House of Thrift gives toys and food to local needy families. This is a big event serving up to 1500 children, and it draws a large crowd! Help is needed both inside the store maintaining inventory and outside with crowd control. Donations are needed for the toys and the dinners.
Christmas Toy Event Volunteers
The Toy Event on December 17th is from 11am-5pm, volunteers working the event will need to be there earlier.
Volunteers are needed for a host of activities such as:
- Security detail (Men)
- Registrations and Check In for recipient families
- Crowd Control
- Entrance and Exit Station Control
- Lemonade or Hot Chocolate stand (This will depend on temps outside the day of the event)
- Cookie Stand
- Diaper Station
- Coloring Contest Station
- Raffle Station
- Toy Section Control
We will need a Santa also
General Help around the store
Donation Needs
All ages from Baby to 17: New and unwrapped:
- Board Games
- Dolls of all kinds
- Toddler toys
- Puzzles
- Coloring books
- Cars/Trucks
- Balls of all kinds
- Any new toy will be accepted that you wish to donate.
For Christmas funding for toys and dinners, you can also donate via paypal https://www.paypal.com/donate/… We also welcome gift cards from local grocers such as Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Walmart, etc.
Children’s Shoe and Coat Drive
This is an ongoing project that is being extended. Boys and girls shoes and winter coats of all sizes are still needed. Items do not have to be new, but they need to be in good condition.
You can help with any of the above. We need you to volunteer to help out on December 17th. You can bring toys and shoes or coats with you to church starting Sunday, November 27th through December 11th.
